Immediate Dentures
Never go without teeth! If you have one or several teeth that require extraction, Dr. Coon can fit you for a set of dentures for placement immediately after the tooth or teeth in question are pulled. The best part is that you never have to go without your teeth. These immediate dentures act as a “band-aid” of sorts, covering the extraction sites and protecting them from food impaction and further damage. After the original exam and determination of which teeth need extraction, the dentist takes impressions and schedules your surgery appointment for approximately two weeks later. At that appointment, Dr. Coon performs the extractions and places the new denture or partial denture. Your brand-new smile will leave you feeling confident. Most patients recover in only a few days.
Complete Dentures
If you are missing all of your teeth on either the top or bottom of your mouth, you may well benefit from a complete denture in that arch. The dentist custom fabricates a plate to replace all the missing teeth. Through a series of personalized adjustments, you will be able to use your denture to chew and smile again before you know it.
Partial Dentures
Most of us remember playing Red Rover when we were kids. Usually, the chain link with the biggest kid was the most solid link in the chain. Much like kids playing Red Rover, dentures function better if they have someone strong to hold onto. Partial dentures are a good solution to replacing multiple missing teeth, especially if there are a few solid teeth left to “hold onto.” If possible, Dr. Coon always prefers partial dentures to full dentures, as they are more retentive and functional than their complete denture counterparts. Teeth are placed in areas where they are needed and set in a gum-colored plate that is custom fabricated for your mouth.
Denture Relines
If you already have dentures, but they are loose or rubbing sore spots, you may enjoy better results with a reline. Many dentures can last decades, but unfortunately can get looser over time. While most dramatic during the first year, bone loss continues throughout life after tooth extraction. Relines are a cost effective solution to improve denture fit without the expense of a brand new set.
